hi,
yesterday i decided to drive my gf’s car with no license or permit.
im 18, and the cops caught me and gave me a ticket and im due in court next week.
i want to know, is it possible for me to go to jail? would the judge jail sentence me? or if not how big u think the fine would be?
im really nervous i never been convicted with anything.. idk what made me drive the car, and according to the cop i burned out but all i did was a quick turn cuz it was a dead end.
i know, i know i should go get a license but has anyone gone throught this if so.. what can be my punishment u think?
*btw she has her license and she also had insurance for the car so she’s fine its me im worry about =(
hey guys thanks for all the replie’s yea i know i did something very bad… idk what was going throught my head .
but as far as talking about the burnout yea i would do it in a nice fashionly way.
well my gf didnt get in any trouble because she didnt know i had a license, otherwise i think she would of gotten a ticket as well, but the cops let her go clean. just me that got in trouble and the officers don’t know were a couple
im gladd is not jail sentence.. but i wouldnt mind paying, im guessing the fine has to be anywhere from 250 to 500? and community service?
do you think i would let off easy as to pay a fine + court fees and maybe restriction from license for a year and thats about it? aside from the insurance probably going up for me and the points in my license when i do get it.
and yea i learned my lesson NO LICENSE NO DRIVING =\

no, your license will probably get taken away longer (even though you didnt have to, but to get one it’ll take a while)… maybe community service at the worst
there will be a fine also…
Most likely, the judge will merely have you pay a hefty fine. If the judge does jail sentence you, tell the judge he/she is a douchebag.
you worry about urself
nah
just get over it
and break out the court like i did b4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, that is a problem. Good Luck with that~! LOL
Whats the difference? You live in New Jersey. Going to jail might be better then living in Jersey.
No, buh its gonna be on your record and you prolly wont be able to get them for a while
Get a lawyer! BTW, your gf is not fine — she allowed an unlicensed driver to drive her car. You could get her in big trouble, too.
You won’t go to jail.
The fine will be $500 + court costs, insurance and state DMV surcharges and additional bullsh*t charges. If you hire a lawyer to go to traffic court, you are talking over $1000 total (lawyer and fines).
They will suspend your license, meaning you will have to wait an additional 6 months or 12 months before you can get legal.
You’re screwed.
Well….no she actually is not “fine”. She can be charged with allowing you to drive the car. But in answer to your question, New Jersey is a state where when it comes to driving issues…..it is all about the money. When you go to court, go see the prosecutor. Ask if you can plead guilty and get a reduced charge. That charge will come with some kind of a hefty fine but jail time won’t be an issue.
Maybe you are worried about you, but your gf’s insurance company may not be so happy to know she’s letting some unlicensed dip drive her car. ‘Bet it costs her a chunk on her insurance.
Way to look out for your gf. You’ll make a splendid husband.
Do you ever think about anyone besides yourself?
You will get a fine. Not sure how much. You shouldnt do time though.
My sister had a similar situation, though much worse.
They made her go get a license and then put points against it. She actually had a very serious accident and destroyed some government property and ended up with a less severe penalty than I did for a speeding ticket, while having a valid license.
No, you won’t go to jail, but when you do get a license it will probably have points against it. Points added up can cause you to lose your license and any points on your record cause insurance to be higher and at 18 that’s going to be a little painful. For a minor offense such as this if you get your license they may just let you go with a scolding, having already corrected the fact that you didn’t have a license. No guarantees but I think it would show you know what you did was wrong and you made an effort to correct it.
Good luck and, while I am sure it doesn’t need to be said, please don’t drive again until you do have a license.
learn to obey the rules next time. NO license means DON’T DRIVE!
could be a fine, jail time, extended period with no lisence. depends on your “record” and if you have any previous law infractions.
hi my mate did the same he got a 300 fine and a 1 year ban she can get in trouble for letting you use the car knowing you had no licence or you could get done for taking with out permission and if the police stoped you they should have took the car from you thats wot they did to my mate and he had to pay to get it back
Yes, you could go to jail for 10 days along with a fine. Your best bet is to go before your court date and get your license and also find a lawyer to represent you. Some towns are more lenient then others but I’d rather get a lawyer then take my chances.
Let me start out by saying I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to auto repair. Last year I had an accident with my Nissan Armada and I wasn’t sure how to fix them. I tried to search the web for help, but the procedures were too complex for my skills. I ended up going to the dealship for my repairs. The dealership tends to charge more than mom and pop repair shops, but they’ve seen all sorts of situations (auto insurance problems, repair warranty issues, etc) and they seem to always find a way to help me. Maybe you can try calling auto repair shops in New Jersey to see if they can help you.
possess as much information as you could maybe is one of the options, however it is quite time consuming, here is the resource i have ever had good experience.
