I pay $212 a month, here in Jersey. I’m 23/female, i’ve had no points within the last 5 years, and one accident that was not my fault. I need full coverage because i am financing the car! Do you think this is high, or average..?? I have Progressive.

shop around,,this is too much
Sounds high. A lot could depend on your age and the type of car you drive.
I am 33, live in Chicago and pay $80 a month for full coverage on 2 cars (2007 and a 2008).
sounds pretty high.. id look around for another company.
Sounds a bit high. NJ has fairly high insurance rates in my experience. I would shop around a bit more…try geico or esurance.
Geico & Progressive just started insuring NJ again within the last couple of years….they pulled out because NJ is notoriously high in the accident rate category.
Progressive is usually the least expensive and one of the best insurance companies going.
i think that’s average with progressive, i’m at 173 for full coverage with State Farm, and i’ve never had a ticket or any accidents. i’m 23/f. you could probably shop around some and see if you can get a better price, prigressive (in my experience) is one of the higher insurance companies.
Thats a lot, I’ve heard of young boys paying that much, but not girls.
I pay $244 a year for full coverage on my 90 colt AND my 51 buick combined in NY. But I also pay $78 a month for basic liability on my Honda.
Make sure you are getting all the discounts. If you are a student or have been recently you might be able to get a good student discount if your grades are I think a B average. If your car has certain feature such as airbags, anti-lockbrakes, daytime running lights, etc. Even though you had a not at fault accident it might be held against you if they paid out alot. Progressive is for people who can’t get insurance anywhere else. If you can get insurance on your parents policy this will help & if they live in a more rural area it might cut down your rates alot. Find a large agency out of the phone book who handle many different carriers & they will check them all but if they still don’t sound good keep checking. Have you vin # & info. ready & they can do it quickly. some companies offer a renter’s or homeowner’s rate reduction if you get them together that is so much it is worth it. Of course this was years ago when I sold insurance & it all changed after the disasterous past several years but ask anyway.
I live in NJ too and I currently have Geico. I used to pay about $550 every 6 months when I had my old car (this is with full coverage). I just recently bought a 2008 and my insurance shot up to about $770 every 6 months. I’ve heard the NJ Manufacturers have really cheap insurance but I believe you have to be a member of the organizations on their list in order to get covered by them.
You’re a female with a good driving record… That’s just expensive.. You should be paying less…
