Does NJ Manufacturers Insurance Co. charge you extra to bring your car to your out-of-state school?

I live in NJ and my car is registered under my parents’ insurance. The insurance company is New Jersey Manufacturers which only operates in NJ and PA. I go to school in NH and I want to bring my car up for one semester. My mom heard that if you want to keep your car somewhere more than 100 miles away from the address that is reported to the insurance company, it’ll cost $1000 extra per year. If you don’t pay the extra $1000, then the insurance company won’t cover you if you get in an accident at school (or wherever you’re keeping your car that’s 100 miles away from home). I’ve asked other students at my school if they pay extra but they all have insurance companies that work in many states so their situation is different from mine.

I have the same insurance and had my car down in VA for two years once I finally got one. I dont pay my insurance, my parents do and if I remember correctly I think it was just an additional $150. They are allowing my brother to have a car next year when he goes down to Alabama for college.
